absolute life saver for me as a care-giver and my fiance with advanced throat cancer – no tube yet
We were a 3x workout a week, organic, sugar-free, simple carb-free, alcohol-free and smoke-free household. a small, hard, smooth, unmovable lump popped up on my fiance’s neck after a chiro appt. that seemed like it was attached to the SCM last December. The chiro said it was nothing to worry about, it’s probably spinal fluid and will go away. We got a biopsy in June (because of COVID shut down) and it came back negative so we started the homeopathic lymph detox (about 15 tinctures, pills, oils all day and night), then medical grade THC from Rick Simpson. After 8 months of this we go back in August and low and behold it IS cancer. Only now it’s advanced. While we thought this lump on the lymph was the problem it was actually a ‘primary’ tumor on the back of his tongue. In the process of waiting to get treated because of ‘The Pandemic’ it has grown to where his vocal chord is paralyzed from the tumor and he cant talk, he can only drink broth and has lost 40 pounds over this time because eating has become so difficult. The acid a tumor produces in the body in addition to the coughing from mucous production and burning from eating cause unbearable pain ‘like a torch’ he says. I’ve bought all 3 of the peptide formulas (this plus, green and keto). i read on the Functional Formularies site the peptide version is the best for adults because they include amino acids needed for healing. As the tumor has gotten bigger and his taste and smell have become so sensitive i can’t even eat dip with garlic in it next to him w/out him agonizing in pain from the throat burning, the green pouch seems to be the only one he can eat because it’s mild. The other 2, esp. keto has a slight bitter after taste but not unpleasant. I added a shot of apple cider vinegar plus a squirt of Lakanto Maple flavored syrup to them and i thought they were DELICIOUS. sadly still burned his throat… Once he gets the feeding tube it will probably be a different story but while he’s eating it orally i’ve been going through boxes of the green peptide formula.How to prepare for tasty ORAL consumption as a caregiver or patient w/non sensitive throat:i shake the bag real good because it collects at the bottom, pour it in a 2 cup measuring cup (squeeze it like a toothpaste tube to get it all),> fill the rest of the measuring cup up with Nana’s chicken soup (just the broth) from the Whole Foods hot bar or your favorite broth stock.> add a scoop of whole body collagen with fortibone + a scoop of sun warrior unflavored protein powder> add a shot of apple cider vinegar – to taste> add a squirt of Lakanto maple flavored syrup – to taste> warm it in the toaster oven at 425 for 8 minutes or in micro for a minute.I then pour it in a stainless steel mug (ceramic or glass) with a stainless straw w silicone tip so it doesnt burn your mouth. it’s savory and delicious with the added broth, syrup and apple cider. otherwise it has a pleasant, mild taste which is still palatable and DOESNT BURN a tender throat.There is nothing on the shelf you can buy at a store that is organic plus as healthy as this. It either has high salt, sugar, too strong garlic or onion, crappy ingredients and filled with hard foods he cant eat. What can i say to convince you this is the best feeding tube food on the market other than this testimony? No added sugar
I was using an organic formula that was good but had 16 grams of added sugar per box. They wanted to sell it to both tube feeders and by mouth feeders who might use the formula for just part of their nutrition. That doesn’t work.So I was glad to find this. I had to water it down too for tube feeding, but not a problem.It is actually not too much more expensive than comparable formulas. Kate’s Farm organic 1.4 which has 16 grams added sugar per carton is $72 per 12. Liquid Hope is 83 per 12 cartons.

Excellent Ingredients/Fluctuating Flavor – Only buy from Truemark
Be aware: According to the manufacturer, the only authorized seller is Truemark. The flavor is normally good but can fluctuate and occasionally there will be a batch that is so bitter as to be inedible. With Truemark, at least you’re buying from the seller the manufacturer recommends so there’s a better chance of getting a good batch. Even if you’ve purchased through Truemark before and hit “repurchase”, Amazon may still take you to a different seller. You’ll need to click “see all buying options” then “see more” to get to Truemark. It doesn’t always come up automatically.That said, Functional Formularies does an excellent job of offering a meal replacement that fulfills daily nutritional needs and contains clean organic ingredients that are actually going to support good health, with none of the added sugar or garbage ingredients that are in so many other nutritional products. I was so happy to find them! It was a life saver for my loved one, who was struggling to chew during the last year. So grateful.

Excellent Product For Enhanced Nutrition and Fiber
This is great product for PEG tube feeding. It contains the fiber that my husband needs but does not get from some of the other products we use. It is a bit oily, so you will want to keep some cranberry juice on hand to flush the tube when you are done. Also, you will need to thin this product out a bit with water or another product of your choice so it flows smoothly through the tube.
