Easy to read with actionable information
In The Empowered Caregiver Linda lays out clearly defined checklists, actionable steps, and affirmations that any caregiver can use. Personally, as my wife and I are each dealing with parents who are transitioning to care topics the book covers like “Encountering Resistance” “When Parents Resist All of Your Suggestions” resonated with both my wife and me. A worthy read for anyone with aging parents.

Get Your Hands on This Book Now!! You Will Definitely Use It!!
The “Empowered Caregiver” really does what its title says it’ll do!The Author (Linda Fodrini-Johnson) has Several Decades of working in this industry and helping people like you and me with some of the toughest topics in our lives especially if we care for our loved ones. Although this book is written for Children-Parent relationships and can be used for spousal caregiving situations, I believe it gives GREAT ADVICE for everyone interacting with the medical establishment concerning a loved one that you’re caring for.The Empowered Caregiver has seven parts that are then broken down into chapters. But it starts actually by defining terms which has everyone thinking on the same page by recommending that you the reader look at the glossary first.Next the book moves from the Basics through the time line of a general life line to help you and your recipient until the end with the final decisions you both face: “end of life decisions.”There’s a separate whole Part on Caregiving of the caregiver which is very important for the Recipient to continue to receive the level of care you want them to have. The other parts regard mental and emotional challenges, staying at home or moving, plus “Family Dynamics,” and more!Get this book for you to help with another person’s care but also for others to care for You as you want them to do so.I hoped this encourages You to get the Empowered Caregiver! Warmly, Anne

Empower yourself with “The Empowered Caregiver”
“The Empowered Caregiver: Practical Advice and Emotional Support for Adult Children of Aging Parents” by Linda Fodrini-Johnson MA, MFT, CMC is to me, one of the best places for adult children to start educating themselves about what they should know so they are positioned to help their older parents. That said, this book would also be a valuable resource for those of you who are already involved in parent care because there’s always more to know. The book is beautifully designed in a way that makes you, the caregiver, feel cared for. It’s packed with stress-reducing strategies and solutions for your caregiving journey.Fodrini-Johnson takes you through the steps starting with the basics such as safety concerns and navigating the confusing legal issues that can come up. From there, she helps you help your parents cope with their declining health, managing their medications, and handling the often-never-ending medical appointments. Fordrini-Johnson covers how to recognize possible dementia and manage the world of sibling conflicts as well as end-of-life issues.I’m recommending this book in my caregiver support newspaper column. It’s that good.

    An invaluable and excellent resource
For a number of years now, my siblings and I have been negotiating the challenges and changes that come with caring for an elderly parent diagnosed with dementia. How I wish we had had The Empowered Caregiver to prepare and guide us through those early stages. I would urge anyone who is anticipating their need to become a caregiver to a parent to read it as early in the process as possible. This book is an invaluable and excellent resource covering every imaginable scenario and topic. While my family has worked through many of the difficulties and decisions in the early care of our parent, we will no doubt refer back to The Empowered Caregiver to look for answers and support in order to keep them safe, healthy and happy in the future as well as providing the same for us children as caregivers. Surprisingly, I found the detailed information contained in the book will also be integral to preparing my own journey into my senior years so as not to burden loved ones.

A powerful case for proactive preparation!
The Empowered Caregiver delivers sound, practical advice for adult children who are (or who are about to embark on) delicately navigating the care role reversal from receiving care to giving care. Fodrini-Johnson, a lifelong elder care professional, tackles a scary and difficult topic with the ease and richly- informed perspective of someone who has lived and breathed these challenges. She generously shares her learnings in succinct, digestible chapters–highlighting both potential cautionary pitfalls and best practices of caregiving with clarifying objectivity. Fordini-Johnson’s knowledgeable recommendations and confidence-inducing affirmations, separate the emotion of caregiving from its necessary financial, operational and legal responsibilities and realities that many of us have not anticipated. I have not yet embarked on this caregiving journey, but The Empowered Caregiver has already given me the tools to help me be in more control– to be a more effective and more EMPOWERED caregiver to my loved ones in their delicate later life stages. This book makes a powerful case for proactive preparation and is a must read for adult children and other relatives of aging family members.
