Had reservations with the bed rail. Our bed is articulated and I wasn’t sure this would work with the up & down bed positioning movement. Not only does it work well, the rails feel well anchored by simply passing under the upper mattress. My wife can get very good support getting into & out of the bed and has no complaints. I tried it also and found the sense of support was better than I had thought it would give us. The height adjustment works reasonably well from beside the bed and one would have a great deal of difficulty (impossible) working it from a reclined position – which is good! The only difficulty is lowering one side to the floor, which is necessary when making the bed, but it can be done with a little difficulty. My wife broke her arm and must negotiate things one handed for a while. This was exactly what she needed for assistance. We are pleased with quality & finish. My wife was able to remove the bedding one handed for the wash when asked to perform this task for the home PT rehab nurse (I still get the job when no one is around!). I now believe this to be better than the one-sided style which straps to the bed for security & which would never have worked with the bed articulation. It was shipped quickly and arrived for her hospital discharge to home care and assembled super quick for this 72 year old man (no tools needed). Highly recommended by both of us for anyone in need of assistance!

Works well with my adjustable bed
I have old back injuries and surgeries and need a rail to get up out of bed. I needed to find one that would work well with an adjustable bed. These rails work perfectly. They are easily adjustable for both width and height of the rails. The rails are a little longer than I wanted and higher than I needed. However the bars are spaced wide enough that I can reach through them to pick up items off my bedside table. I would recommend these to anyone that needs railings that are not braced to the floor. Very sturdy and so far have stayed in place.

A great product and even better customer service
We got my mother a new electric bed and wanted side rails as aids for Mom to help her getting in and out of bed. The Royal Medical Solutions dual side rails appeared to be just what we needed and at a good price. We ordered them and the Amazon Fulfillment center got them to us quickly.The box arrived looking rather beat up, but not so badly that any thing should have fallen out. However when we opened the box, three of the four rods needed to stabilize the rails were missing. I suspected that instead of the new item I’d ordered we had received a product that had been returned by someone else: one long side of the box was taped, not glued, and there was no packing material in the box. Obviously, no one at the Fulfillment Center had checked for completeness.I left a message for the company Friday night. It was after hours, so I expected no response until maybe Monday. Instead, I received a call less than two hours later from the president of the company asking for my address so he could send the replacement early Monday.He was as good as his word and the new box arrived by midday on Wednesday. The replacement box was glued on both long sides, had expected packing bubbles and included all the parts.I installed it on Mom’s bed quickly and easily. As the description said, one really doesn’t need any tools. The rails fit neatly between the mattress and the box springs. I like that I can adjust how high the bars extend above the mattress and that I can set the height on either side separately.The rails are sturdy and Mom can use them to get in and out of her bed easily.I definitely would buy this product again if someone I love needs stable side rails on their bed.

Bad Release Mechanisms
I was using this with a hospital bed which makes it move a bit more but I was able yo use nylon cable ties to secure it on one side to get around that. The problem is with the poorly designed release mechanism. It was always hard to work (and certainly too hard for someone in bed without lots if strength) but the round black part broke off after only a week on one side and I couldn’t raise or lower the railing at all at the point. Nor could I get the detached rod or spring that must be in inside there out so the railing was permanently stuck. All I could do was reverse the whole thing so that the far side of the bed which doesn’t need much changing had the stuck side. I use wooden dowels now a lot of the time in the slots just to avoid having the one working side also break and make it all completely useless.I’d much rather have a less convenient pin cotter pin or rod or even a nut and bolt to lock the railing in then something inside that can’t be removed or fixed once it breaks. Hammering or punching it out with a nail at that point didn’t help at all.Also since all the foam rubber that is supposed to grip the bed frame has to be removed to make it fit a Twin XL bed I would have had to use cable ties to the bed frame anyway. The instructions really didn’t explain I’d be forced to remove that foam.

Great safety device
As my wife and I got on in age, we discovered a tendancy to fall out of bed while asleep, sometimes with serious injuries. I purchased one of these for my side of the bed, and it does the job perfectly. I sleep better knowing that falling out of bed is now history. Initially, my wife was reluctant to buy one for her side, but when she saw how it worked, she immediately insisted on getting one for her side of the bed as well.This can be assembled without tools. Everything just snaps together. It would help if the instructions showed which piece goes where, but if you observe the picture on the packaging, you can figure it out without too much difficulty. I subtracted one star from “ease to assemble” rating because of the lack of more specific instructions for assembly.Once assembled, it is steady, stable and and firm.
