Milwaukie vs Ironclad gloves
I’ve always been a loyal customer of Iron Clad and still am today. I couldn’t find the usual gloves in my size on Amazon ( Med, Ironclad General Utility Work Gloves GUG ) so I decided to try these. This glove fits perfectly for my hand and is really soft on the inside. The rubber top hand protection covers most of the hand, knuckles, and fingers. The fingertip is not rubber but thick cloth. The rubber protection on top doesn’t make the hand difficult to close either. The inside of the palm is soft and well-padded. The outside of the palm is padded with the same material as my Milwaukie gloves. These gloves are made from a thick cloth and rubber. Great for summer dirt bike riding at a fraction of the cost. However, the touchscreen fingertip operation only works with the thumb, and water resistance is a big no.Let’s compare the $14 IronClad to my $35 Milwaukie 48229733 Demolition Gloves from Home Depot. Both have good protection but the IronClad has better hand protection. Neither one will operate a touch screen like a phone or stay dry. The Milwaukie is a thicker glove made for cooler temperatures ( +40deg ). The Milwaukie had way better fingertip protection and a little better palm protection. The Milwaukie went through a motorcycle accident on the freeway and saved my hands and palms. The gloves didn’t make it but are still useable for garage work. The IronClad will replace the Milwaukie for the summer riding season. Then I’ll get another pair of Milwaukie gloves for the winter. Oh, my $125 “made for motorcycle” ride gloves didn’t make it a week.

The Good, Bad & Ugly.
The Good:1. Comfortable fit right out of the box, no break in needed.2. High visibility, is even reflective at night and can be spotted easily if you drop it in the grass or something.3. The rubber shielding on the back of your hand does give you pretty good blow protection, I had a tree limb strike my hand while wearing these, it really made a difference. Plus I didn’t have a problem with the rubber peeling away which surprised me as other brands I’ve had did that pretty quickly.4. The stitching held up quite well, even in wet conditions. The Bad:1. Dexterity on your fingertips is not the best. I’d say moderate, not horrible, but could be better. I work as a tree climber at my regular job and have a mobile mechanic business on the side. Being able to grasp small nuts and bolts is standard work for me and these gloves are likely to have to come off for delicate work. That said they are decent enough that I climb with them on and almost never take them off while climbing.2. The velcro straps got full of sawdust in no time and were basically just there to annoy me after a week or two.The Ugly:1. I’ve owned two pairs of these now, both failed in the same place after almost the exact same period of use. I got 24 and 25 working days out of them exactly before the leather on the interior gripping part of the fingers wore through. I have had gloves last twice as long for half the price, so take everything in consideration.Final analysis: If you need gloves that stand up to rough trades like logging, landscaping, etc with a long life span, these will not cut it. If you’re on a tight budget, these can be easily out-competed. But if you like the high visibility and the protective aspects, and especially if you do less intense work then I do, I would indeed recommend them as a decent glove that definitely has a usefulness all to itself. The ease at which they can be found if dropped at night was especially cool, they reflect like reflector tape. The neon colors make them easy to spot during the day too of course. And the heavy-duty rubber backing works, it really might save you some pain. I had originally purchased them so my fingers would be very visible to me while using a chain saw in a tree. These gloves did that job 100% better then any others I’ve used yet, I just wish they stood up to punishment a little better.

Definitely Impact Resistant
Almost lost a finger the other day. Had these gloves on when a metal shelf slammed right on the edge of my finger. Hurt like hell, but was so, I and k do stress this, so relived when I saw it looked like a swollen bruise, and not this bloody mangled mess I should’ve had. Very grateful to still have all my fingers. Also, they are pretty neat to look at, and dependable.I’ve had 3 pairs, they tend to last about a month for me, typically wearing out at the finger tips first. Grip is not great, palms slip like soap on a sheet of ice, but that impact protect, oh baby, that I will praise.

These gloves rule, there was another pair of gloves from Amazon I was going with for a couple years, and they would disintigrate after 2-3 months sometimes 1 with heavy use. I considered it normal considering I wore them 5 days a week 8 hours a day. But these gloves have lasted all summer with minimal wear, and only got holes in them when I accideently held my hand too close to an exhaust pipe. Eventually some of the seams on the fingers started to go loose with wear, but no holes in the fingers or anything that would make them unusable. I did buy two pairs and I am on the second now but they hold out extremely well for the amount of use. The deep blue is a nice colour as well. Top notch gloves for whatever you do, I like them snug so I buy size small

Ironclad clad gloves make gloves for multiple different professions. I use my many different pairs for mountain biking, keeping warm, working on the oil rigs, in the yard, wrenching on my Jeep and many other activities. The gloves all, fit well, stand up to harsh work environments I’ll keep buying these gloves!
